New Council Development Completed In Perth

Construction News Image
The new blocks at a key site on Crieff Road, Perth, are made up of high-quality two-bedroom flats for affordable social rent. Three of the six ground-floor flats have been designed to be suitable for tenants with mobility issues.

The development has been delivered by the Council in partnership with strategic partner CCG (Scotland) Ltd, the Glasgow-based contractor and manufacturer, on the site of the former 208 pub.

This latest development is part of Perth & Kinross Council's programme of house building across the area that has delivered over 300 new Council homes since 2011.

The Council's Convener of Housing and Communities, Councillor Peter Barrett, visited the site.

He said: "It's fantastic to see these new flats completed. They will provide much-needed two-bedroomed accommodation for tenants, and it was great to talk to some of them here today. This new housing will provide people with safe and secure places to live, at rents they can afford. Our existing tenants repeatedly tell us that adding to our stock of Council housing is one of their highest priorities.

"The new flats occupy a prominent site on Crieff Road and I'm delighted the Council was able to purchase the land for this development. The build can be seen as an important part of the redevelopment of this area of Perth, with the A9/A85 road project now also complete.

"The Council is committed to delivering additional affordable accommodation for people across Perth and Kinross and we will continue to identify sites where we can build new social housing."

CCG Director, Calum Murray added: "CCG is delighted to continue our partnership with Perth and Kinross Council to deliver this new accommodation. The project will provide affordable housing for the Perth thanks to CCG's innovative 'offsite' methods of construction, all of the homes have been built to the highest standard of quality and environmental performance."
