The Highland Council has been awarded funding from the Scottish Government to deliver area based energy efficiency programmes in the Highlands.

The area based programmes aim to:

• Target fuel-poor areas

• Offer insulation measures, such as External Wall Insulation (EWI), Cavity and Loft Insulation

The Scottish Government grant, in conjunction with Energy Company Obligation (ECO) funding, and a homeowner contribution will help owner occupiers and privately rented properties to improve the energy efficiency within their home.

Two drop-in Community events have been organised in the Badenoch and Strathspey areas next week to provide more information.

The first session takes place on Tuesday 8 October in Grantown YMCA from 2pm to 7pm and the following day, Wednesday 9 October, the event will be held in Newtonmore Village Hall from 2pm to 7pm.

Letters from The Highland Council are being distributed to home owners in the Badenoch and Strathspey area inviting them to call in to these sessions to meet representatives from the Council and E.ON, ask questions and confirm eligibility. Other home owners are welcome to attend to find out more information on energy savings.

Homeowners and landlords who received a letter are invited to contact E.ON for more information and/or to contact Home Energy Scotland for free and impartial advice.

The Highland Council wishes to highlight to homeowners that initial contact will be in writing only and no cold calling or door knocking will take place.
