Residents Urged To Give Their Views On Station Regeneration Plans

Construction News Image
A consultation has opened for residents to be able to give their views on the proposals to regenerate Balloch Railway Station.

West Dunbartonshire Council would like to hear residents' feedback on the proposals for Station Square and on what more could be done to encourage active travel in and around Balloch.

The consultation will give residents and businesses the opportunity to give their opinions on the proposals which include creating an improved public space in front of the station.

Plans also include wider pavements, new seating and street lightning and also new traffic calming measures on Balloch Road. These measures will also give priority to pedestrian and cyclists and create a better and safer connection between the Railway Station and the Tourist Information Centre and any future developments at West Riverside.

The proposals also include introducing live information on public transport links to encourage and promote sustainable travel including new signage to help visitors find the most convenient and economical route to their destination.

Councillor Iain McLaren, Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration, and Economic Development, said: "Our residents are at the heart of everything we do so it is important that they have every opportunity to have their say and help us shape the work being done in their community.

"We want to hear their views on our plans to regenerate an area in the heart of Balloch which will be appreciated by residents and visitors to the area. As a Council we are committed to improving the wellbeing of our communities and encouraging economic growth, and the development of sites like this one can help us deliver on both of those ambitions. I hope as many people as possible will and view and give feedback on our exciting plans."
