Bear Scotland has announced that road surfacing improvements on the A92 between Salmondsmuir and Elliot Roundabout is to begin on Sunday 29 November for seven nights.
The project will involve carriageway resurfacing improvements on the A92 at Elliot Roundabout, creating a safer and smoother journey for motorists.
The surfacing improvements are set to begin on Sunday 29 November over seven nights. To minimise disruption to road users, all improvements will take place overnight between 7pm and 7am. No works will take place on Friday and Saturday nights.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the first five nights of work at Elliot Roundabout will require a road closure between 7pm to 7am. During the closures traffic will be diverted Westway, B9095 Keptie Street, Arbroath, A933 Brechin – Arbroath, B961 Dundee – Friockheim and B9128 Forfar – Muirdrum Interchange and the reverse.
There will then be road lining upgrades from Salmondsmuir to Elliot Eastbound and Westbound which will be carried out using a 10mph convoy system during working hours.
All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.
Consultation is being carried out with emergency services, local authorities and transport organisations ahead of the project to inform them of the plans and the traffic management that will be in place.
A spokesperson for BEAR Scotland said: "This resurfacing programme is essential to ensure the continued safe use of these areas on the A92. The improvements, funded by Claymore Roads, are part of our long term A92 road maintenance programme and will help to ensure that the route remains fit for purpose for years to come.
"We will do everything possible to keep disruption to a minimum during these works and have planned the project to take place overnight as well as avoiding the busier Friday and Saturday nights.
"We would however encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance, leave some extra time for travel and ask them to drive carefully through any traffic management which is in place for their safety."
Works are being undertaken by Breedon Northern Ltd on behalf of Claymore Roads and supervised by BEAR Scotland Ltd.
