Bids Invited To Deliver New Village In Lanarkshire

Construction News Image
Landowner Albert Bartlett Properties has instructed Shepherd Chartered Surveyors to invite bids from housebuilders to deliver Berryhill, an exclusive new village in Lanarkshire.

Berryhill offers all the advantages of rural living with excellent connections to Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The 36.5 hectare site of the village is above the A73 behind Stand and south of Greengairs Road. Its key features include two areas of ancient woodland and an east/west track connecting it to Stand.

The site lies two miles north east of Airdrie, adjacent to the A73. With good connections to the M80 and M8, Glasgow is only 11 miles away and Edinburgh lies 30 miles east.

Albert Bartlett Chairman, Ronnie Bartlett, grandson of Albert Bartlett, founder of the family firm, said: "We are seeking housebuilding partners to assist with delivering the first phase of Berryhill and set the tone that will characterise the quality of the masterplan.

"While we will deliver core infrastructure and be responsible for the delivery of strategic landscaping, we are also looking for a partner to deliver our commercial centres."

The site is in close proximity to a number of stations, being almost equidistant between Airdrie, Drumgelloch and Cumbernauld railway stations with regular commuter services to Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Croy Station and its Park and Ride are 4.5 miles north, providing faster services into Glasgow Queen Street while the new North Lanarkshire Pan Orbital route will greatly enhance the connectivity of the site to the Central Belt and beyond. The planned East Airdrie Link Road will improve the already excellent transport links of the wider site.
