Overnight resurfacing works are set to begin on the M80 on Monday 12 July, BEAR Scotland has announced, working on behalf of Transport Scotland.

BEAR is set to resurface one kilometre of the M80 southbound near the River Carron over three nights. For the safety of workers and road users, the M80 will be closed southbound between M9 Junction 9 and M80 Junction 8 from 19:30 until 06:00 on the nights of 12, 13 and 14 July.

During these closures, a signed diversion route will be in place directing southbound traffic via the M9 and M876. This diversion will add approximately eleven minutes and 10.2 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland's South East Network Manager, said: "These surfacing improvements will improve road quality and safety for motorists on this section of the M80.

"Carriageway closures are essential for safety, however we've planned the works to take place overnight to minimise any disruption. We will do all we can to complete the project as quickly as possible and thank motorists in advance for their patience."
