BEAR Scotland have announced a series of safety barrier upgrade works on the A7 between Hawick and Arkleton and the A702 south of Candymill Bend.
The A7 works will be carried out from 9-30 August 2021.
For the safety of workers and road users, there will be lane closures on short sections of the A7 on a rolling basis from 07:30 until 17:30 from the 9 to 30 August.
Traffic management will be removed after each day of work, allowing for both lanes to remain in use in the evenings.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland's South East Network Manager, said: "These safety barrier upgrades will improve safety for motorists on this section of the A7.
"Lane closures are essential for safety while also minimising disruption as these works take place. We will do all we can to ensure that the works are complete in good time and thank motorists in advance for their patience"
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
Separately, the works at Backshiels on the A702 will be carried out from the 11 to 24 August 2021.
There will be lane closures on the A702 Backshiels South of Candymill Bend from 09:30 until 15:30 from the 11 to 24 August.
The project is being undertaken thanks to a £38,500 investment from Transport Scotland.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland's South East Network Manager, said: "These safety barrier upgrades will improve safety for motorists on this section of the A702.
"Lane closures are essential for safety while also minimising disruption as these works take place. We thank motorists in advance for their patience."
