Network Rail Announces £1.4m Paisley Rail Bridge Works

Construction News Image
Network Rail has announced that a £1.4m project to strengthen and re-paint a railway bridge in Paisley will begin next month.

Work will begin on 10 January until the end of April 2022, to infill a vacant building next to the railway, as part of a project designed to extend the lifespan of the structures.

Residents and businesses in the area have been advised of the upcoming programme, which will involve noisy 'rivet-busting' and 'grit-blasting' activities, as well as steelwork repairs and painting.

In order to complete the project in the safest and most efficient way, the road under the bridge will have lane closures in place for the duration of the work and delays are expected.

Pedestrians and cyclists will continue to be able to access the area under the bridge during this time.

Ahead of this work, we will be hosting an online information event for members of the community to ask questions directly to our team on Monday December 13.

Allison Flanagan, Scheme Project Manager at Network Rail, said: "The essential works that we're carrying out at Incle Street will not only improve the look of the bridge, but will extend its lifespan for up to two decades.

"When complete, the bridge and the vacant building will be stronger and better protected against the elements, allowing us to continue to run a safe and reliable railway.

"The lane closures will allow us to complete the works safely and efficiently, and while some delays are expected, we appreciate the patience and support of the community during this time."
