Scotland's Towns Partnership (STP) has announced that environmental regeneration experts Green Action Trust has been appointed as their 2022 Charity Partner.
The move will build on the strategic partnership forged between the two organisations earlier this year, to rebuild from the pandemic with an increased focus on place - creating healthier spaces for Scotland's communities, and contributing meaningfully to climate change ambitions. As STP's 2022-23 Charity Partner, the Green Action Trust will provide its expertise in environmental regeneration in Scotland's towns - helping STP in its mission to build healthier, fairer and more sustainable communities.
Phil Prentice, Chief Officer of Scotland's Towns Partnership said: "I am delighted that the Green Action Trust will be STP's 2022 Charity Partner. This strengthened partnership between our organisations will directly link up town centres and communities with Green Action Trust's environmental expertise - allowing practical steps to be taken to supercharge Scotland's towns' progress towards net zero.
"As identified in the recent Town Centre Action Plan Review Group Report, A New Future for Scotland's Towns, enhancement of town centre resilience against climate change is a key priority for building healthier, greener and more sustainable places.
"The Green Action Trust, as our 2022 Charity Partner, can help get us there."
Derek Robertson, Chief Executive of the Green Action Trust, said: "As a key delivery partner of environmental and climate outcomes, our charity has vast experience of the difference that environmental regeneration can make in urban communities - just as much as across wider rural Scotland.
"As Charity Partner for STP, we will bring our expertise, partners and resources to assist with the expansion of green infrastructure and nature restoration in Scotland's towns - making them more sustainable and resilient places to live and work.
"There is no better time to accelerate this vital work as Scotland plots its green recovery from Covid-19 and works towards Net Zero targets, and by strengthening our joint work with STP we can ensure that the environmental regeneration of our towns has the same strategic value as their economic recovery."
