SSE Projects Make Joint Donation To Shetland Food Bank

Construction News Image
SSE Renewables' Viking Energy Wind Farm and SSEN Transmissions' HVDC project have donated a total of £2,000 to Shetland Food bank.

The donations were handed over to the charity by Haydn Jamieson, Lead Civil Engineer, who works at site on the Viking Wind Farm project and George Louden, Construction Manager on the HVDC project.

Haydn said: "As much as the festive season is a happy time, we know only too well that there is pressure on people to spend money they don't have. We hope that our donations go a little way to helping the foodbank to provide some extra items for their customers."

George said: "We know that the foodbank provides a vital lifeline to people all year round, not just at Christmas. It is important to highlight that this service is there to help when needed. We hope our joint gesture is of use to Shetland Foodbank at what can be a particularly hard time of year for some."

Accepting the cheques on behalf of Shetland Foodbank was David Grieve. He said: "We don't think anyone in Shetland should have to face going hungry at Christmas or at any other time of the year. That's why we provide emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis."

"We'd like to thank Viking Wind Farm and the SSEN Transmissions Project for their individual donations which will go towards buying items and the running of our operations."
