McLaughlin & Harvey are on track to complete the delivery of a new state-of-the-art sports and leisure complex on behalf of East Dunbartonshire Council.
The Allander Leisure Centre is being delivered through the Scape Major Works Framework.
The Council's Joint Leaders, Cllrs Andrew Polson and Vaughan Moody, were given a glimpse of our progress during a site visit on Thursday 10 March 2022. With their visit falling during Scottish Apprenticeship Week, they met with our apprentices from the Allander, Additional Support Needs school and Boclair Academy, and received copies of our 2021 Social Value Report for the projects. The report summarises all of the social value McLaughlin & Harvey have provided across our three Council projects last year - including local employment, educational engagement, community projects and charity initiatives.
Our commitment to the delivery of meaningful social value has never been stronger. As a trusted Scape framework partner, we create added value on our projects which improves the environment, economy and social wellbeing of the communities we work in.
The report highlights key facts and figures whilst providing case study examples for each of the three sites.
Chris Boyle, Framework Director said: "McLaughlin & Harvey are delighted to be helping East Dunbartonshire Council support the local community around Allander Leisure Centre. To date our work has provided a legacy of social and economic value of £4.4m, including 21 new-start apprentices, 65 new-start jobs and 1,214 hours of work placements. Our continued work across East Dunbartonshire Council through the Scape Framework provides real benefits to several local communities helping deliver jobs for local young people."
