CCG (Scotland) has announced that construction is due to get underway on a new affordable housing development in the Southside of Glasgow.
St Andrew's Drive is a 120-home development located in Pollokshields and being led by CCG (Scotland) on behalf of Southside Housing Association.
Formerly a site of 1960s flatted blocks, the new development – the second and third phases of the 3-phase development – comprises a mix of one, two and three-bedroom flats, and three and four-bedroom maisonettes that will be available for social and mid-market rent. Two wheelchair properties will also be provided whilst all of the homes are capable of future adaption and will be highly energy-efficient as a result of an enhanced building fabric and the use of solar PV panels.
Each home is provided with a private terrace or balcony whilst communal amenity space for residents is also provided in the form of garden spaces that are complemented by new tree planting, wildflowers, rain gardens, and children's play areas.
CCG Director, John Baggley, said: "The progress at St Andrew's Drive has been positive since the commencement of our works in early-2021 and I thank Southside HA for their support to date. Our Site Team has worked diligently to this point and we look forward to commencing construction on the last remaining housing blocks as we transition into the summer period.
"In bringing high-quality, highly energy-efficient homes to the area of Pollokshields, we are also extremely proud to state that the legacy of the build will go beyond bricks and mortar. Working with Southside HA, CCG has committed to donating a total of £30,000 to community-based projects from within Pollokshields. Thus far, this has included £10,000 towards the much-valued Pollokshields Mutual Aid Food Point on Shields Road which was provided to charity last summer.
"CCG understands the importance of creating a lasting legacy from our housebuilding programmes and contributing long-term value to the communities in which we operate. We look forward to working with Southside HA in identifying new projects over the remainder of the programme."
Donna Reilly, Southside Association's Head of Development & Investment, said: "The Association is pleased to see the progress being made with our development at St Andrew's Drive and will be delighted to see the first new homes being allocated later this year."
Works at St Andrew's Drive will continue over the course of the year with the first homes set for handover in late-summer 2022.
CCG also continue to progress Niddrie Road on behalf of the Association. One of the most innovative projects currently under construction in Scotland, the development comprises the retrofit of eight tenement flats in the area of Strathbungo to an enhanced energy standard known as EnerPHit, a Passivhaus-accredited standard of build for existing homes, and is set for completion within the coming months.
