Construction News Image
BEAR Scotland have launched a programme of road surface improvement works on the A9 northbound, near Gleneagles.

Transport Scotland has invested £240,000 in the scheme to address defects in the road surfacing on the A9 northbound carriageway between Gleneagles and Auchterarder Junction, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

To ensure the safety for roadworkers and motorists, temporary traffic signals with a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. In addition to the convoy system, a series of closures will be required at Auchterarder Junction and Gleneagles on-slip. They will be in place as follows:

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland's North East Unit Representative, said: "This £240,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A9, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

"We've taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements, including carrying out the works overnight and removing the traffic management during the daytime.

"We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A9. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination."

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
