ScottishPower has announced a new strategic partnership with InoBat, the European pioneer of premium electric vehicle battery R&D, engineering, production and recycling.
The partnership will bring together ScottishPower's green energy focus and expertise with InoBat's pioneering battery technology, supporting InoBat as it delivers on its plans to develop a network of gigafactories across Europe and other global locations through 2024.
As part of this partnership, ScottishPower will supply InoBat with green electricity and a variety of smart energy optimisation services, while the two companies will collaborate on various sustainability projects to help accelerate UK and European ecosystems in sustainability, energy transition and the creation of the Net Zero circular economy.
Just recently, InoBat has announced it intends to place its third gigafactory in Western Europe, with candidate sites in EU and the UK. The availability of innovative green power solutions will be critical to this decision.
Andrew Ward, CEO ScottishPower Energy Retail said: "As the UK's only 100% green integrated energy company, everything we do is firmly focussed on the goal of net zero emissions by 2050. It's our aim to support our customers on their journey to decarbonise by taking control of their future energy needs. Partnerships like this one with InoBat are an important step along the way in the country's decarbonisation journey.
"We're delighted to be supporting the development of their electric vehicle battery manufacturing base by bringing our expertise in sustainable energy solutions."
Dr Andy Palmer, Chairman of InoBat Auto commented: "I am delighted that InoBat will be partnering with a company of ScottishPower's repute as we progress on our plans to become a leading player in the global EV market.
"ScottishPower is an expert in green energy, notably becoming the first integrated energy company in the UK to generate 100% green electricity. Our partnership reflects our desire to collaborate with key industry players that share our sustainability vision based on our cradle-to-cradle approach and today's announcement is an important step forward on our journey towards driving the transition to Net Zero."
