Maxi Construction have organised a donation drive to help ensure that as many children as possible go back to school in August with the necessary uniform and equipment.
The drive comes after Maxi has benefitted from a series of projects across Central Scotland, including education related contracts from The City of Edinburgh Council, Stirling Council and West Lothian College.
At the start of Summer Maxi saw appeals from Edinburgh School Uniform Bank, The School Bank West Lothian and Start Up Stirling looking for donations of school uniform and equipment for 4 – 18 year olds living in hardship, who have been referred by schools, family support workers and other professionals.
Together with the support of employees and supply chain members (Auto Door Projects UK Ltd, Mar Scaffolding Ltd and PFMS Ltd) Maxi were able to respond to the requests from the school uniform banks and deliver donations of uniforms and equipment.
Johanna, Operations Coordinator at Edinburgh School Uniform Bank said: "We have seen a dramatic increase in the number of families reaching out to us for school uniform. With rising food and energy prices, people will not be able to make ends meet and often have to choose between putting food on the table or buying new uniform for their kids. We rely on businesses such as Maxi Construction supporting us so that we can respond to the rising demand. The donation of brand-new school uniform items that we received last week helped us support many families in need."
An ESUB beneficiary commented: "Thank you so much for the school clothes for start of term. You have absolutely no idea how much this helps me. My husband passed away this year and I am a kinship carer for my 3 grandchildren. This has taken so much of the worry – I am overwhelmed and emotional for the kindness of others helping others."
Julie, Start Up Stirling commented: "Thank you so much for all of your support in providing cereal bars and funds for our Summer Food and School Bags campaign. You have helped local children and young people get the best possible start for the new school term."
Maxi Construction said they are keen to ensure that wherever they work they leave a positive footprint within the local communities and are happy to have been involved in this initiative.
