Connect Modular has been appointed to the H2 New Build Housing Construction Framework by the Scottish Procurement Alliance (SPA).
Effective from 01 August, the four-year public-sector framework replaces the previous H1 framework and is worth £500m. Developed by public sector construction framework provider LHC, the SPA website states that the newly released framework has been designed to 'provide an efficient, value for money procurement route for local authorities, social landlords and other public sector bodies for the development of new build housing projects and associated works'.
Of the 20 contractors listed on the H2 Framework, Connect Modular is the only modular construction company to be appointed, and Managing Director Jennifer Higgins is proud of this achievement.
"This is the first time Connect Modular has been named on this prestigious framework and we are delighted. Having the endorsement of the Scottish Procurement Alliance and LHC is hugely important and will make it easier for clients to work with us. The appointment, following a stringent evaluation process, clearly demonstrates our scope to deliver high-quality homes in a safer environment and deliver a net zero product."
Jennifer continues: "To be listed as the sole modular construction firm on this framework sends a strong message to the market that Connect Modular is a highly capable, reputable contractor and our modern method of modular construction is paving the way forward."
Connect Modular's appointment to this framework comes at a time when the modular construction specialist is going from strength to strength.
The Cumnock based construction firm is soon to complete a 63-home modular housing development for Riverside Scotland in Dundonald South Ayrshire. Meanwhile, earlier this month it embarked upon a brand new £17m project deliver 101 modular homes for Cunninghame Housing, in partnership with The Scottish Government and East Ayrshire Council.
The affordable housing scheme in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, will see a mixture of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom general needs houses constructed, together with ten amenity bungalows and five wheelchair bungalows.
This new development will be Cunninghame Housing Association's first ever modular housing project and the largest modular low-rise housing development in Scotland.
The innovative modular construction method takes the home-building process offsite and into a controlled factory environment. All homes are constructed inside Connect Modular's Ayrshire-based manufacturing facility with kitchens, bathrooms, plumbing and electrics all pre-fitted. The houses are then be split into modules, transported to site and craned into position for the final 10% of building work to be completed.
