IMS Heat Pumps has been named as one of the winners of the prestigious Valliant Heat Pump Challenge.
Valliant, in collaboration with renowned property expert and Channel 4 presenter Kevin McCloud, sought out the most intriguing and innovative heat pump projects in the United Kingdom, shedding light on the practicalities and benefits of installing and living with this low-carbon heating technology.
IMS Heat Pumps, who have offices in Perth and Sheffield, are one of the UKs leading heat pump experts who have completed over 300 installations in past three years alone. No strangers to challenging heat pumps installations, their winning entry showcased a Grade-II listed barn conversion. Despite initial scepticism about installing a heat pump in a 400-year-old stone cottage, IMS Heat Pumps successfully navigated the challenges posed by the heritage features, including 2'6'' thick walls and an 18-foot-high kitchen apex. The heat pump system designed and installed by IMS Heat Pumps effectively met the heating and hot water requirements of the property.
The Vaillant Heat Pump Challenge was launched in response to the growing popularity of heat pumps in the UK and the need to address the lingering questions and misconceptions surrounding their installation and functionality. Vaillant's research revealed that many installers and homeowners hesitate to embrace heat pump technology due to concerns about performance in colder weather, operating costs, and compatibility with different types of homes.
IMS Heat Pumps, with their outstanding project submission, emerged as one of the winners of the Vaillant Heat Pump Challenge, demonstrating that correctly designed and correctly installed heat pumps do work and are suitable for almost any home.
The homeowner, taking advantage of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), reduced their initial installation costs and reported that the running costs of the heat pump system were comparable to gas. Even during the coldest months, with temperatures plummeting to -7°C, the homeowner expressed satisfaction with the warmth and comfort provided by their home.
As part of their victory in the Vaillant Heat Pump Challenge, IMS Heat Pumps will have the incredible opportunity to film alongside Kevin McCloud, showcasing their winning project and sharing their expertise with a wider audience. This recognition further solidifies IMS Heat Pumps' position as a leader in the field of heat pump installations, demonstrating their commitment to innovation, problem-solving, and exceptional customer satisfaction.
Emma Bohan, General Manager of IMS Heat Pumps, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be named one of the winners of the Vaillant Heat Pump Challenge. This recognition highlights our dedication to overcoming challenges and delivering efficient, sustainable heating solutions for homeowners. We are excited to collaborate with Vaillant and Kevin McCloud and showcase our winning project, inspiring others to embrace the potential of heat pump technology."
