Every year Wind Energy Week champions wind power, a hugely vital renewable energy source, that is Scotland's main source of renewable electricity which generates enough to power the equivalent of 6.9 million homes, supporting 16,850 full time equivalent jobs and an economic output of more than £3.5 billion.

Jack Norquoy, Public Affairs Manager at Scottish Renewables, said: "Scotland has been a longstanding pioneer in wind energy, stretching from the world's first electricity-generating turbine in 1887 to the launch of the world's first floating offshore wind farm in 2017.

"With more than 11MW of installed capacity and ambitious targets of 11GW offshore and 12GW onshore wind by 2030, the sector is playing a critical role in delivering a net-zero future which provides energy security and economic benefits to local communities.

"It was great to see MSPs unite together to celebrate Wind Energy Week and support the role of Scotland's thriving wind energy industry in building a cleaner, cheaper and greener future."
