Taylor Wimpey East Scotland Completes Yearly Charity Drive

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has raised over £5,300 in the homebuilder's annual fundraising event, the Taylor Wimpey Challenge.

A total of 333 Taylor Wimpey employees, across 54 teams, headed to the Black Mountains in Wales to tackle an 11, 20 or 31 mile hike to raise money for the Youth Adventure Trust, as well as a number of local charities around the UK.

Taylor Wimpey has supported the Youth Adventure Trust (YAT) since 2014. This year's challenge raised over £140,000 for the charity, which uses outdoor adventure to inspire vulnerable young people aged 11 to 16.

As well as raising over £2,600 for the YAT, the team from Taylor Wimpey East Scotland - who tackled the epic 31-mile route - also raised funds for two charities that have personal connections to members of the team.

They donated 25% of their fundraising total to Sands Charity – a stillborn and neonatal death charity that supports bereaved families and works to reduce the number of stillbirths in the UK, and the Brain Tumour Research Charity, which is dedicated to funding research, raising awareness of brain tumours and providing support and information to people facing this prognosis. The team proudly donated over £1,300 to each charity thanks to their efforts.

Caitlin Pearson, trainee site manager at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland and team captain of 'Upto Summit' who took part, said: "The Taylor Wimpey Challenge is now an established annual event that has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for fantastic causes, including the Youth Adventure Trust. While this year's trek was tough, it was a great opportunity to bond with each other and it's very rewarding knowing that our efforts have helped to raise so much money for charities that are very much in need of support."

We really are grateful for their continued support which helps us to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable young people in the UK."
