Portakabin, the national site accommodation specialists, has announced the official opening of its new depot on Westburn Farm Road in Cambuslang, Glasgow.
The Portakabin team welcomed clients and visitors from businesses around the Glasgow area. With new offices that exceed building regulation thermal values using a fabric-first approach, photovoltaic (PV) panels, energy-managed welfare facilities, rainwater harvesting and electric vehicle charging points, attendees were able to get a real feel for what Portakabin has to offer.
Portakabin experts from all over the UK were on hand to share their extensive knowledge on modular construction, as well as offering guidance on additional products and services, planning control and sector specific intelligence.
The team also had a range of trusted suppliers on hand from CabinPump, Jackpad and Welfare Hire to speak about how they work with Portakabin to expand the capabilities of their buildings and offer new and innovative products to the site accommodation market.
To show visitors the safety and simplicity of the installation process, Portakabin showcased a unique low-level lift demonstration of a building being installed. Portakabin is the ONLY modular building system that can be installed without the need to work on the roof – even in multi-storey configuration. That means improved site safety by reducing the need to work at height – a well-known area of risk.
“We thoroughly enjoyed welcoming past and prospective customers to visit our new depot at Cambuslang, comments Mark Fox, Divisional Managing Director for Portakabin (Site Accommodation).
“Visitors were able to see first-hand, the enhanced capacity and scope of our operation in Scotland as well as the latest developments in quality and sustainability of our buildings."
Site Accommodation Depot Manager Glen Bilsland said “With a record number of visitors in attendance, the event was a fantastic way to showcase this new depot and the extensive offering Portakabin can provide."
The £1.75 million investment by Portakabin at Cambuslang has doubled the size of its operation there to create a purpose-built refurbishment and refit centre with a new workshop and an extensive range of buildings to showcase to visitors.
The centre – one of ten dedicated site accommodation sites across the UK – will serve the whole of Scotland, showcasing the company’s latest designs and potential layouts for site accommodation which have been specifically engineered for the construction sector.
