The JR Group has announced the successful completion of 31 new homes at Carrick Street in Ayr, handing over the development to first-time clients, Ayrshire Housing, ready for new residents to move into.
The collection of high-specification self-contained flats which were built for social-rent, comprise a mix of one- and two-bedroom properties.
The development – a purpose-built lifetime living apartment block – which has been completed to an exceptionally high standard with energy efficiency in mind – benefited from the many key partners including architects APRL, engineers G3 and steel manufacturers GR Contracts.
Located across from the Gaiety Theatre, the site complements future town centre improvements focusing on the Kyle Centre and further support South Ayrshire Council's plans to revitalise the town centre.
As well as the new homes, The JR Group team has also created appropriate parking, a new access point and facilities, as well as communal open space and soft landscaping including a central courtyard area between the two block to create a strong sense of community.
Andrew Dallas, Project Director for The JR Group, said: "It is great to be able to hand over this project to Ayrshire Housing. This site will offer some fantastic and much-needed new homes for Ayr, chosen for their accessibility and adaptability for residents looking to find a home close to the heart of Ayr town centre.
"The homes and flats are a great addition to Ayr, and we wish all the new residents a very warm welcome to their new homes."
Carine Strain, Head of Property and Development, said: "We are very proud of the development and the high standard of finish achieved by the JR Group. It is lovely to be able to provide a multi-use development with a focus on community and provide green spaces to city center living."
A memorial plaque has also been installed at the Carrick Street site to commemorate Senior Site Manager John McEwan, who was instrumental in bringing the site to fruition, who sadly passed away following a short illness during the build project.
Andrew adds: "John was a hugely important part of The JR Group and was hugely instrumental in driving forward the Carrick Street site with both professionalism and enthusiasm. It felt important to us to create a memorial to such a much-loved and respected member of our team and we are grateful to the Ayrshire Housing for allowing such a fitting tribute."
