Clark Contracts has celebrated the retirement of former Director, Iain Blair, after 30 years with the business.

A qualified Quantity Surveyor, Iain started his career in the industry in 1981, joining Clark Contracts as Commercial Manager in 1995 and became a Director in 2002.

In one of his roles as Director, Iain ran the company's Fit Out Division and supported the growth of this division in delivering higher-value, high-quality projects, with the division now delivering projects up to £30m in value, compared with £1m when Iain took the reins in 2005.

During this time Iain oversaw the delivery of projects across the UK, for a wide range of customers, including high profile professional services companies including The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Ernst & Young, The Weir Group, Maclay Murray & Spens, Pinsent Masons, IBM, IMI and Audit Scotland.

Iain stepped down from the Board of Directors in 2017, but has continued to work at Clark Contracts, supporting the delivery of projects across the business.

Looking back on his career, Iain said: "During my time with Clark Contracts, I have seen the company grown from a turnover of £8m to its current turnover of £100m, move to a purpose-built office and grow from around 60 employees to over 250. It has been brilliant to be involved in the growth of the company over this 30-year period, and I look forward to seeing the future success of the business."

Gordon Cunningham, Managing Director, said: "Iain has played a massive part in our growth over the last 20 to 30 years, and will be missed by everyone within the business. We wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement and I'm sure there will be many others within the industry who have worked with Iain over the years and will wish him all the best."

As a thank you for his service, keen cyclist Iain was given an early retirement gift of hospitality tickets to watch the 2023 UCI World Championships in Glasgow, and then a celebratory meal with some colleagues past and present.
