Rosneath Active Travel Proposal Progresses To Second Stage

Construction News Image
Argyll and Bute Council has announced that a proposed travel route linking Rosneath with the Castle Caravan Park is progressing to the second design stage, following the conclusion of a public consultation.

The proposed route will offer further opportunities to walk, cycle and wheel in the local area and help create a climate friendly Argyll and Bute.

New concept designs for the route will be available to view and comment on at a special drop-in event on Tuesday 6 February at Howie Pavilion, Rosneath from 4pm to 8pm.

Phase one of the construction project currently terminates at the yacht marina, just before Camsail Bay. This next stage will extend the route, linking the junction to Castle Caravan Park with Rosneath, and include places to stop and enjoy the view along the way.

The project will have a community-led approach with a focus on prioritising existing road space to promote the movement of pedestrians to undertake 'everyday' journeys by walking, cycling and wheeling.

Councillor Peter Wallace, Depute Policy Lead for Roads and Infrastructure, said: "The invaluable feedback we received from communities last year has enabled us to progress to the next stage of this project and look at design options in more detail. As we all look to do our bit and reduce carbon emissions, extending the proposed travel route will give people more options that encourage sustainable travel and reduce car dependency and our carbon footprint.

"Thank you to everyone who gave feedback last year. We would love to hear your thoughts on the latest designs and hope to see you at the drop-in event."

Strathclyde Passenger Transport (SPT) is funding the project.
