HBB GeoSales Completes Latest Project With Flex MSE Wall

Construction News Image
HBB GeoSales has announced the successful completion of its latest project involving the integration of the Flex MSE wall at Glentress Forest near Peebles.

Situated in the picturesque Tweed Valley, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and top-notch mountain biking trails, Glentress Forest is undergoing a significant transformation through the Glentress Masterplan. This holistic plan aims to establish a seamlessly integrated, multi-user destination with a focus on mountain biking.

Set to become a world-class, year-round visitor attraction, Glentress is poised to host the UCI Mountain Bike Championships this summer, marking a major milestone for the project. The meticulous planning for the Glentress Masterplan has included the development of new trails over several years.

HBB collaborated with landscape architects, Raeburn Farquhar Bowen, presenting a proposal for the construction of three bridges at Glentress. The innovative Flex MSE system was selected as the preferred solution for its sustainability and durability compared to traditional alternatives. Notably, Flex MSE boasts a remarkable design life of 120 years and is backed by a 75-year warranty, making it a highly cost-effective choice. The installation process, initiated at the end of January, faced challenging weather conditions; however, the dedicated HBB GeoSales installation team successfully completed the project within a four-week timeframe, concluding by the end of February.

HBB used Hydroseeding to finish off the look.

To enhance the ecological balance, the bridges underwent hydroseeding with a specialized mulch containing a fast-growing grass seed mix. The Flex MSE system, with its soft landscape finish, seamlessly integrates with the natural environment of Glentress when fully vegetated. This harmonious integration into the surroundings was a crucial aspect of the project, ensuring that the Flex MSE bridges blend seamlessly into the picturesque setting.

Glentress Forest, attracting over 300,000 visitors annually, is a popular mountain biking destination and a haven for nature enthusiasts.

In summary, the successful implementation of the Flex MSE system at Glentress Forest not only provided an eco-friendly solution but also proved to be cost-effective when compared to traditional construction methods. The hydroseeding process further contributed to the ecological sensitivity of the project, enhancing the overall environmental impact.
