Eildon Completes New Development In Chirnside

Construction News Image
Eildon has completed works on its latest major affordable housing development in Chirnside.

The latest development includes 57 homes of high quality, sustainability, and affordability, offering a mix of two, three and four bedroom houses along with cottage flats.

Each residence, whether a house or a flat, is equipped with air source heating systems and holds an energy efficiency rating of "B" in SAP. Additionally, all properties have private gardens, with a mix of driveway and non-designated parking spaces.

Eildon's Chief Executive Nile Istephan said: "As well as regenerating this area and creating jobs and income for the Borders economy, this development is helping to address the acute housing need in our region. There is a high housing need in Scotland as a whole, but particularly in the Scottish Borders. For this development alone we had on average, 30 applications per property.

"Hosting open day events like this helps demonstrate the quality of our new sustainable development, built by Springfield Properties. The total cost was £9.8M including Scottish Government Grant of £4.8 M and private finance of £5M.

"Our Chirnside homes have brought a huge boost to this local area and is part of our strategy to invest £137 million in new homes for the Borders economy between now and 2027."

Springfield Managing Director for Affordable Housing, Tom Leggeat, said: "We are delighted to have worked with Eildon Housing Association to deliver high quality, energy efficient affordable homes in the Scottish borders. There is a well-documented shortage of affordable housing in Scotland and projects like this demonstrate the positive impact housing can have in an area, not just for the people who will be calling this development home, but the wider area."
