Significant progress has been made on a new development which includes 125 affordable homes in West Craigs, Edinburgh.
The West Craigs Masterplan is one of the largest mixed-tenure regeneration projects under construction in central Scotland. The development includes a mix of both affordable and private housing, it is significantly supporting the supply of new homes west of the city centre.
Wheatley Homes East, a subsidiary of Wheatley Group, one of the UK's premier housing management firms, oversees the development of 425 homes within the masterplan. As the newest addition to their portfolio, Plot 13, includes 125 residences featuring two, three, and four bedrooms available for both social and mid-market rent.
This initiative has received backing from The Scottish Government in collaboration with the City of Edinburgh Council and is being executed by CCG (Scotland), a prominent construction and manufacturing conglomerate in Scotland.
Director of Development and Regeneration at Wheatley Group, Lindsay Lauder said: "The progress being made at West Craigs Plot 13 is fantastic. It’s a huge project, providing a variety of accommodation covering a range of our tenants’ needs. We look forward to the first phase being completed by the end of this year."
CCG Managing Director David Wylie, said: "I am delighted with the progress our construction team has made it to date and it is great to see how the development will integrate with the wider masterplan which is hugely significant for west Edinburgh and the wider city region. West Craigs Plot 13 is one of four developments, contributing over 300 mixed-tenure homes, on-site with Wheatley and their subsidiary divisions across the Central Belt.
"Each development is being constructed using advanced building methods that will deliver leading energy efficiency standards whilst our partnership will also deliver a legacy of job creation and investment with West Craigs alone enabling the delivery of 10 new jobs, 8 trade apprenticeships and 13 work placements as a result of the project.
"A further £96,000 will be donated to the Wheatley Foundation to be distributed to community-based causes. We thank Wheatley Homes East for their continued support and look forward to handing over the first homes later this year."
