National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) has been announced as a double winner at this year's British Council of Offices (BCO) Regional Awards for Scotland.

The project – developed by Morrison Construction on behalf of University of Strathclyde – was successful in the Corporate Workplace of the Year category, as well as claiming the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Award for the building's sustainability credentials, which include being operationally carbon neutral in design, as well as featuring an extensive rainwater harvesting system and roof-top solar farm.

These awards add to NMIS' impressive portfolio of commendations, which include triumphs at the Structural Timber Awards, Building Awards, Herald Scotland Property Awards, Offsite Awards, and most recently, the Scottish Design Awards. The project has also been shortlisted for an Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) Award, two Construction News Awards and a RICS Award.

Established in 1990, the BCO is Britain's leading forum for the discussion and debate of issues affecting the office sector, with the mission to research, develop and communicate best practice in all aspects of the sector.

NMIS will now be put forward for a National Award in the Corporate Workplace of the Year and ESG award categories in October, with the chance for a win in the coveted Best of the Best category.

David Ewing, Managing Director of Morrison Construction Building Central, commented: "This is yet another fantastic achievement for the team behind the NMIS scheme.

"NMIS is without doubt a flagship facility for Scotland, as has been recognised by its continued success in winning so many awards. I congratulate the team again and wish everyone all the best for the BCO National Awards later this year."
