Skye and Raasay Community Regeneration Funding Approved

The Highland Council's Skye and Raasay Area Committee has approved Community Regeneration Funding (CRF) of almost £38,000 for two vital projects.

Announcing the funding, Chair of Skye and Raasay Area Committee, Cllr John Finlayson, said: "Members agreed funding to 2 projects that will enable local community led organisations to carry out vital projects.

"The projects approved today were done so according to RAG rating formula and the projects awarded demonstrate economic recovery; community resilience; mitigating impacts of the climate/ecological emergency and/or addressing the challenges of rural depopulation."

The Skye and Lochalsh Council for Voluntary Organisations (SLCVO) was awarded £30,767.57 - Empower Skye and Lochalsh Programme. Skeabost Memorial Hall Association was successful in being awarded £7,185.24 - re-roofing Skeabost Memorial Hall.

The summary position at Isle of Skye and Raasay Committee on 3 June 2024 is as follows:

Funds awarded to date: £63,072.16 at Isle of Skye & Raasay Committee on 26 June 2023; and £393,921.37 at Isle of Skye & Raasay Committee on 12 February 2024.

Community Regeneration Funding is an umbrella term for several funds that are available for communities/organisations to access in Highland.

Area Committees are awarded devolved allocations according to approved formulae and decision making on which projects should receive funding sits with elected Members.
