Knight Property Group has announced the successful completion of build works for a new £10 million Aberdeen store for national home improvement giant, Wickes.
The site at Kingshill Park, in Westhill, Aberdeen has been formally handed over to Wickes who are now managing the fit-out process, ahead of its grand opening in August.
The purpose-built 25,000 sq ft store, along with 79 car parking spaces and an outdoor projects centre was built by Clark Contracts, who were the main contractor.
The new building is of a steel frame design and incorporates high-performance composite wall and roof cladding and is designed such that a mezzanine floor can be fitted to increase stoor capacity.
When open, the new store will bring around 25 new jobs to the local economy and will see Wickes offering more DIY product choice to consumers in the Granite City.
Sarah Taitt, Chief Property & Services Officer At Wickes Said: "The new Wickes store will officially open in August. As well as providing work opportunities for the local area, we look forward to offering residents of Aberdeen access to a wide range of home improvement products, services, and expert advice from our knowledgeable staff."
Howard Crawshaw, Managing Director Of Knight P Roperty Group Added: "The successful completion of this project brings positive news. We're thrilled to welcome Wickes back into Aberdeen and also into our portfolio of tenancies at Westhill, enhancing the offerings for customers around Westhill."
Wickes welcomed its first customers 50 years ago and is one of the UK's fastest growing home improvement retailers. Its initial site at Whitefield, Manchester opened in 1972.
The business is one of the UK's leading DIY chains and builders' merchant and now operates more than 230 stores throughout the UK, with existing Scottish sites in Dumfries, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Perth and Stirling.
Wickes will join other big names in the business park including Starbucks, McDonalds, Screwfix and Toolstation.
