Story Scotland, the Scottish civil engineering Division of Story Contracting, is celebrating its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of success and commitment to excellence in the rail and construction industry.

Since its inception in 2014, the company has played a pivotal role in shaping civil engineering in Scotland. Over the past ten years, the Division has delivered high-quality projects that have benefit communities across the region.

Story Scotland's journey over the past decade has been marked by several key achievements and milestones. The division has safely and successfully delivered over 500 projects, including the award-winning installation of a 5,000-tonne bridge underneath the railway line at Ravenscraig for Network Rail, replacing the life-expired Invercoe Bridge that provides vital access into the village of Glencoe for the Highland Council, and 14 Access for All schemes that bring improved accessibility to stations across Scotland.

Last year, Story Scotland was be named 'Rail Supplier of the Year' in the Scottish Transport Awards for its contribution to the railway network and its passengers. This contribution to the industry was further solidified with a recent appointment by Network Rail to deliver building and civils projects across Scotland’s Railway for Control Period 7 (CP7). Story Scotland was awarded the Lot B Framework for projects up to £15m, with an indicative annual spend of £50m per annum, for a minimum of the next five years.

In addition to the rail and transportation sectors, Story Scotland is also delivering several live energy projects, including the new energy from waste facility in Irvine which will eventually generate power for 30,000 homes, infrastructure for Battery Energy Storage Systems across the UK, and enabling works for an extension at Bhlaraidh Windfarm in the Highlands.

Beyond its construction achievements, Story Scotland is dedicated to making a positive impact on the communities it works within. Through various community engagement initiatives and partnerships, the team has supported local charity groups, invested in 67 graduates and apprentices, and provided career development opportunities across Scotland.

The Story Scotland team has been led by John MacArthur – Managing Director since he joined the business in 2015.

He said: "Marking a decade of Story Scotland is a momentous occasion for us all. It’s a testament to the sheer hard work and dedication of our team, our long-standing supply chain partners, and the trust our clients have placed in us.

"As we celebrate this milestone, we reaffirm our commitment to investing in our people – our most important asset and to delivering excellence for our clients and our communities in every project we undertake.

"Personally, I couldn’t be any prouder of my team, each and every one of them has played an important part in making Story Scotland the business it is today."
