Clark Contracts Director, Gerry Cummins, has celebrated 20 years with the business, beginning his career in 2004 as a graduate of Glasgow Caledonian University, with a BSc (Hons) degree in Quantity Surveying.
Gerry's career started in the role of Assistant Quantity Surveyor, before progressing to Quantity Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager and then Business Unit Manager for the contractors Small Works Division in 2011. He then became a Shareholder and Director in 2013.
When Gerry joined the Small Works Division it had an annual turnover of under £5 million and carried out projects up to £200k. Since then, Gerry and the team have grown the division to an annual turnover of over £25m, delivering projects up to £1m in value. The Small Works Division specialise in the delivery of quick turnaround projects within operational environments, and have a high level of repeat business, with several long-standing customer relationships including with the University of Glasgow, University of Strathclyde and NHS Scotland.
In 2016, Gerry also took on responsibility for the company's Fit Out Division, which specialises in the delivery of high-quality internal refurbishment projects up to £30m in value. Commenting on this anniversary, Gerry said "It is fantastic to celebrate this 20-year milestone with Clark Contracts. The company has given me incredible support in my career, and opportunities to progress. It has been rewarding to continue to support new entrants into the industry, passing this knowledge on and watching them learn and develop.
"We have a high level of repeat business, which I believe is a testament to the high-quality service we deliver. During my first year with Clark Contracts, I was involved in the delivery of multiple projects for the University of Glasgow, including refurbishment works to their library and within the Joseph Black and Boyd Orr Buildings. The university is still one of our major customers 20 years later, having recently been re-appointed to their construction framework for a 5th consecutive time, and it has been great to see relationships such as this develop over the years."
Gordon Cunningham, Manging Director said: "Gerry has been instrumental in the development of the company and the continued development of client relationships and our Customers 1st initiative. The hard work, talent and commitment he has displayed since he joined the company 20 years ago has shown in the success he has had over the years. We are committed to supporting the growth and development of our employees and Gerry is an outstanding example of this in practice."
