The Robertson Group has received prestigious Platinum status from the Supply Chain Sustainability School in recognition of its commitment to reducing emissions and using sustainable construction practices across its supply chain.
The Supply Chain Sustainability School is a virtual learning platform around sustainability, with the aim to upskill those working within, or aspiring to work within, the built environment sector.
Robertson is one of the first companies in the UK to become a Platinum signatory of The Plant, Tools and Equipment Charter which aims to help the UK's built environment reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well as improve air quality using sustainable plant and equipment.
Building on Gold accreditation achieved in 2023, Platinum accreditation recognises Robertson Group, illustrating the breadth of sustainable practices implemented across the family of businesses which were assessed against four commitment areas: Minimum Standards; Engagement; Awareness and Education; and Innovation.
Working closely with its supply chain partners to decarbonise site operations and ensure consistent reduction of emissions, Robertson was able to demonstrate its commitment to the Charter in a number of ways. These included using low-emission HVO fuel for plant equipment, powering Robertson Group projects and offices wQWwith 100% renewable energy tariffs and trialling new technologies such as renewable generation on-site, hybrid generators and hydrogen technologies.
Graeme Hannah, Director of Sustainability and Social Impact, Robertson Group, said: "Being recognised as the first tier-one contractor to achieve Platinum, encourages us to continue making great progress toward using more sustainable plant and equipment to drive a positive change within the construction industry. Working closely with our supply chain partners, we've been able to make significant improvements across our operations.
"At Robertson, our purpose is to assure a sustainable future for our people, partners and planet, and we will continue to embrace innovation and best practice to continually improve the high standards that we operate to."
James Cadman, Head of Consultancy & Carbon, Action Sustainability, commented: "The Plant Charter is an outward declaration that organisations are serious about taking action to reduce air quality impacts and carbon emissions. Robertson has demonstrated its continuing commitment to these principles by being one of the first companies in the UK to be awarded Platinum in the Plant, Tools and Equipment Charter. This recognises the great work it has done and continues to do to reduce air quality impacts and carbon emissions."
