Mansell To Mark Centenary Year With Major Charity Effort

Leading construction company, Mansell, is to build on 100 years of success during 2008, by using its centenary year to raise over £1m for a number of good causes across the UK.

Mansell, which has Scottish offices in Aberdeen, Elgin, Dundee, Perth, Glasgow and Edinburgh, has organised a series of fundraising events during the coming year as part of its continued commitment to support local groups and organisations.

To mark the company reaching the incredible milestone of a century in business, each of its regional offices has adopted a local charity to raise money for this year.

Mansell's Aberdeen office has announced it will raise funds for local charity, Friends of ANCHOR, which was set up to support the ANCHOR (Aberdeen and North Centre for Haematology, Oncology and Radiotherapy) unit at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and to fund vital cancer research projects at the University of Aberdeen's Institute of Medical Science.

Meanwhile, Hall & Tawse Joinery - which is part of Mansell and also based in Aberdeen - has chosen to raise cash for North-east cancer support charity CLAN (Cancer Link Aberdeen & North).

Mansell's Granite City office kicked off its fundraising on Saturday (May 24) when 32 of the office's team dusted off their boots to take part in sponsored hill walks.

The event - which raised £5,000 for the charities - saw Mansell's adventurous staff tackle either the Loch Muick, Glas-allt or Lochnager circuits before recovering from their day's efforts with drinks and barbecue at Potarch Hotel, Royal Deeside.

Doug Duncan, Mansell's business development manager, said he is delighted the two charities have been chosen and is looking forward to the fundraising challenges in the coming months.

He said: "Both charities carry out exceptional work and we are thrilled to be able to support them, in this, Mansell's centenary year. We have a number of fantastic fundraising events lined up and the team here in Aberdeen is determined to raise as much cash as possible for such worthwhile causes."
