Phase One Of £30m Machrihanish Dunes Holiday Homes Gets Under Way

The first phase of a £30m new Argyll holiday home development is now underway at Machrihanish Dunes golf resort.

The two-bed, four star luxury cottages have views across the first hole of the Machrihanish golf course. Seasonal Freehold Fractions for leisure developments is a new concept for Scotland as it allows 13 owners to purchase a heritable freehold title to one week in each of the four seasons.

The idea is to ensure the cottages are used all-year round, providing trade for local businesses and the community 12 months a year.

Nicos Scholarios, director of Fractional Estates Ltd, which is handling the project, said: "The cottages will be built to the highest specification and offer luxury accommodation in a beautiful and relatively untouched area of rural Scotland.

"Traditionally, these types of locations suffer from seasonal fluctuations. We have therefore created the Seasonal Freehold Fractional solution to address the problem. This is definitely not a timeshare. For as little as £39,800, buyers will own title to a holiday home for four weeks of the year. This can then be passed down to future generations or sold on as an investment. This would also be a suitable investment for a SIPP."

The cottages will be constructed using local materials, wherever possible, sympathetic to the vernacular architecture. Entrance is through a spacious porch designed with under floor heating and drying cupboard.
