Miller Builders Come To The Rescue For Ferryhill School

Miller Construction has donated children-sized hard hats and fluorescent vests to Ferryhill Primary School, Aberdeen, to use as props in its end-of-term play.

Today, the P7 pupils will perform Shell Shocked, a modern adaptation of Humpty Dumpty. The play is based on the favourite nursery rhyme but with a modern twist - at one point in the proceedings Humpty requests help from three builders, but they refuse to assist him.

Heather Sharkey, Community Liaison Officer with Miller Construction, said: "We were delighted to help the youngsters out with props for their play, as we believe it is important to play an active role in the communities in which we are working.

"However we decided to donate un-branded hard hats and vests, because if the builders had been Miller Construction staff, we have no doubt that they'd have been delighted to help."

Russell Adams, head teacher of Ferryhill Primary School, said: "We are very grateful to Miller for stepping in and making this donation. We had the majority of our costumes ready and the only things missing were the hats and vests, so they really have saved the day. Heather from Miller Construction kindly hand-delivered them to the school which shows that, unlike the builders in our school play, Miller's staff really are a helpful bunch!"

The firm is currently working on two large-scale projects in Aberdeen city centre. It is the main contractor for the £250m Union Square development for Hammerson, which will see the creation of a major retail and leisure development on a nine hectare site; as well as the £14m City Wharf development for Kenmore which will see the creation of a 150,000sq ft mixed-use office and leisure development.
