Applecross Scores Hat Trick In Industry Awards

Luxury housebuilder Applecross scored a hat trick at this year's Scottish Building Edinburgh and District Association Craft Excellence Award.

For the third year running, the company scooped the award for its South Oswald Road development, which is set in the Capital's exclusive Grange area, for its use of differing natural stone products and exceptional detailing.

Last year its Eskbridge development was recognised for the sensitive and attractive use of traditional brickwork, whereas the previous year it was the outstanding use of stonework at New Pitsligo that took the title

The annual award recognises the best examples of construction craftsmanship over the last 12 months across Edinburgh and the Lothians. The judges inspect the entries and speak to the architects and craftsmen and women involved before deciding upon a winner.


David Stephen, President of the Scottish Building Federation Edinburgh & District Association, said: "The Craft Excellence Award only goes to projects of the highest standard. The award recognises the skill and craftsmanship that makes buildings wonderful places to live or work in. It challenges everyone in our industry to strive for the highest standards, to nurture talented craftsmen and women and to build projects that people can be proud of."

He added: "I'm delighted that Applecross won the award for the third year running. The sympathetic use of stonework has produced a development which is both eye-catching in design, yet compliments the natural, historic surroundings."

The awards were open to all projects, large or small, completed in the period September 2007 to August 2008.
