Carnoustie Cycle Path Work Begins

Work on the latest foot and cycle path link in the Angus Coastal Path has commenced and is expected to be completed around the end of July.

The dedicated off-road combined footway/cycleway is 2.5 metres wide and approximately 2km long. From Carnoustie eastwards to Craigmill Den, it will run on the south (seaward) side of the public road.

The path will cross the road at this point and run along the north side to East Haven.


A stock proof fence and hedge will run alongside lengths of the cycleway to separate it from the adjacent fields.

The path will become part of the Sustrans National Cycle network and the North Sea Cycle Route, and provide an important link in the Angus Coastal Path.

Convener of infrastructure services, Councillor David May said: "This latest part of the Angus Coastal Path will benefit cyclists and walkers alike and we hope that both local people and visitors to Angus will enjoy this facility."

Funding for the £240,000 project is provided by Angus Council (£85K), Sustrans (£75K), Scottish Water / East Haven Residents Association (£40K) and Angus Environmental Trust (£40K).
