Paisley Vision has announced that Chamber of Commerce President Tom Johnston has been appointed to its board.
The Paisley Vision Board is a public-private sector partnership, which was set up to oversee the regeneration of the town centre.
Renfrewshire Council Leader, and Chairman of the Paisley Vision Board, Councillor Derek Mackay said: "We are facing a challenging year ahead and in this uncertain economic climate the Paisley Vision Board wants to ensure that we have a really strong team on board to help us drive through change and improvements in our area.
"We are delighted to have appointed Tom Johnston onto the board as he brings with him a wealth of expertise and experience of the property business, which will be of real benefit to the board."
Tom Johnston is head of the Glasgow division of leading property adviser Colliers CRE in Scotland.
During his experience of over some 40 years in the UK property market he has acted as advisor to many of the leading UK listed property Plc's and a large proportion of the leading UK retailers. Recent and current clients include companies such Capital Shopping Centres, BritishLand, Hammersons, Multiplex, Dawn Developments and Forrest Developments.
Recent retailer clients include Sainsbury’s, Debenhams, Halfords, DSG and Pets at Home.
He said: "I am pleased to be invited to join the Paisley Vision Board, although I am under no illusions, these are challenging times. However I am convinced that with a recession also comes opportunity and it is the opportunity that we need to tap in to."
Mr Johnston said it is vital that the Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce is involved in the Paisley Vision and I will be actively seeking the views, concerns and most of all suggestions from our member companies based in Paisley. I also hope that this might encourage other Paisley based companies to consider joining the Chamber.
"I look forward to be working alongside other individuals who are passionate about Paisley and who are keen to improve Paisley’s image and profile," he added.
