Lovell Scoop Considerate Constructors Awards

Lovell has received a pair of Considerate Constructors awards for its sensitive, tidy and environmentally-friendly approach to construction work on two major Scottish housing projects.

The company, which has its regional head offices at Glasgow Business Park, Glasgow, received the awards from the Considerate Constructors Scheme - a national initiative designed to improve the image of construction through the better management and presentation of building sites.

Lovell received a bronze award for its work on five T84s which it has undertaken as part of Glasgow Housing Association's (GHA) multi-million pound investment programme. The project included the overcladding and upgrading of roofing and balcony areas at five, eight-storey housing blocks in the Hillpark area of the city. Lovell carried out the improvement works as part of company's four-year framework agreement with GHA to upgrade its housing stock.

In addition, the company picked up a further bronze award for The Courtyard, a new development of 34 flats and 14 townhouses for open market sale in Irvine. Bobby Caldwell, site manager for Lovell on the T84 scheme, and Robert Donald, site manager at The Courtyard, received the awards on the company's behalf at a specially-arranged ceremony held at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh.

To win the bronze awards, Lovell had to demonstrate its commitment to the Considerate Constructors Scheme code of practice which requires the company to show sensitivity to the local community and environment, display outstanding levels of health and safety, and liaise closely with local residents at all times.

"Weire thrilled to have received these awards and I'd like to extend my congratulations to both project teams," said Lovell regional director Alan Taylor. "It is always a priority for the company to establish strong relationships with local communities and ensure that the work we carry out goes as smoothly as possible and with the minimum of disruption."

Martin Armstrong, GHA's Executive Director of Housing and Customer Services, added: "We are delighted that the investment works accomplished by Lovell have been recognised by industry officials as delivering top quality refurbishment as well as meeting stringent environmentally friendly criteria.

"This demonstrates the excellent work and standards being achieved by GHA and our contractors as part of our commitment to improving the lives of the thousands of tenants who live in mini-multi blocks."
