Property Maintenance Service Achieves Multi-National Success

A property maintenance service designed to help landlords save thousands of pounds in repair bills is proving a hit with investors across the world.

Edinburgh-based One Call Home Assist has taken dozens of new enquiries in recent weeks for its all-in-one maintenance service - with many calls coming from investors based across the UK and the rest of the world.

The service was set up in Edinburgh earlier this year as a value-for-money alternative to maintenance contracts offered by British Gas and Homeserve. It was originally designed as a service that would benefit landlords based in the east of Scotland but, due to the firm's growing reputation, it has started to receive enquiries from investors across the world who have properties based in the Capital.

Managing Director Paul Greaves said that his staff had been surprised to take calls from landlords in Australia and France, who are renting their homes out in the Capital and wanted to avoid the hassle of personally dealing with maintenance problems.


He added that the Australian landlord had found the company after surfing the web and was desperate to set up a contract to cover her property - as she did not want to receive calls about faulty or broken boilers or radiators while she was out of the country.

He said: "We were very surprised when we signed up a landlord based in Australia. It's a tremendous achievement and proves that we’re being seen by customers from the other side of the world.

"She had seen our advertising online and thought it was a good deal to try out with her property in Edinburgh. Because she lives so far away, it was difficult to keep up to date with what was happening with the flat and she wanted to make sure that any problems would be fixed quickly."

Paul added that the landlord from France had also signed up a property in order save the hassle of being contacted by his tenants when any maintenance issued arose.

He added: "We thought that the service would prove popular with landlords and homeowners based in Edinburgh and the surrounding area, but we’ve been very surprised with the level of interest we’ve had from the rest of the UK and overseas."

With the contract, all emergency repair work to electrical, plumbing and heating systems are covered, as well as general maintenance issues. The contracts also cover all PAT and gas safety testing.
