Montrose locals will be able to see for themselves how the new swimming pool for the town will look when plans for the facility go on public display next week.
From Tuesday 16 June the drawings will be on display in the sports centre, swimming pool, library, ACCESS Office and museum for the public to view.
Work is expected to start on the new pool, which will be built next to Montrose Academy, in January 2011, with completion by October 2012.
Neighbourhood Services convener Jim Millar said: "I hope local residents will take the opportunity to go along and see for themselves what a fantastic facility this new pool will be for Montrose. There has been a lengthy consultation with local people regarding the plans and I would like to thank all those who took the time to respond - their interest have been much appreciated.
"I look forward to the council now proceeding with the new pool, which will be a great asset for the community of Montrose contributing as it will to the health and wellbeing of citizens across all ages and abilities."
The facility will cater for the school and community during the day in term time and community use in the evenings and at weekends. It will be open throughout the year and be managed and operated by Angus Council.
The existing pool was built in 1962 and there are a number of major issues with the fabric of the building and the costs involved in maintaining the facility to a level that allows continued use.
Angus Council will be asked to consider the proposals later this month.
