A total of 322 tenants in Glasgow now have a new landlord following the transfer of homes from Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) to two community-based housing associations under the Second Stage Transfer (SST) process.
Provanhall Housing Association has taken control of 195 homes, and another 127 houses in Hyndland were transferred to Glasgow West Housing Association on Monday 27 July.
The move comes after tenants in Provanhall and Glasgow West voted yes in ballots to proceed with the transfers.
Planning for the handovers has been underway for some time, reflecting the complexity of the Second Stage Transfer process, which involves, where relevant, the transfer of houses, staff, garages, data, processes and contracts to the new landlords.
Provanhall and Glasgow West join Shettleston, Ardenglen, Cassiltoun and Parkhead housing associations which took ownership of GHA homes in March this year.
Sandra Forsythe, Tenant Chair of Glasgow Housing Association, said: "We are delighted that another two Second Stage Transfers are going ahead. This is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of GHA staff, Glasgow West Housing Association and Provanhall Housing Association Ltd over the past five years. We look forward to balloting tenants about transfer in the next set of LHOs later this year."
Provanhall tenant John Percy, 88, said: "The Association has been working hard to keep things local for us and create a better environment and a great community spirit in Provanhall."
Patricia Gallagher, Director of Provanhall Housing Association, added: "This is a landmark in Provanhall Housing Associations history. We want to thank our dedicated management committee, made up entirely of volunteers and residents, and our staff, who have been working towards this for five years. We truly believe it is the right thing for our community and for tenants."
A further 21 Local Housing Organisations who currently manage approximately 19,000 houses on behalf of GHA are still progressing through the various stages of the SST process. Ballots for a further four potential transfers are planned for this calendar year, with transfer potentially by the end of the financial year.
