Robertson Timberkit Pass NVQ Examinations

Robertson Timberkit production staff have recently completed NVQ qualifications as part of their continued training and development programme.

Fourteen workers from the timberframe manufacturer's Seaham plant have attained NVQ Level Two in heavy structural timber framing and a further three are now qualified in NVQ Level Three for occupational work supervision.

The detailed assessments were conducted by NVQ assessors over an eight week period and covered demonstrating competence in practical skills delivery as well as written and oral examinations.

Robertson Timberkit - which has a further site in Elgin, Scotland - is one of the UK's largest manufacturers and suppliers of residential and commercial timber frame structures in the UK.

Executive chairman Ron Easton said: "I would like to congratulate the workforce for supporting this training initiative and this recent award reflects their ongoing commitment to training themselves to the highest standards.

"Robertson Timberkit's core business activities involve the design, manufacture, supply and erection of timber frame structures to a broad spectrum of clients including national house builders, large construction firms, housing associations and regional and local developers.

"This latest training award will give our clients further confidence that we will continue to provide a range of innovative timberframe solutions, delivered to national standard."

Production supervisor Peter Birtch was one of three staff to complete the NVQ Level Three in occupational work therapy.

He said: "Each member of staff has a tailored learning and development programme in place to allow them to reach their full potential within the business.

"The NVQ examinations have been a great learning tool for our staff and have given us the confidence that we continue to perform our skilled jobs to the highest industry standards."
