Glass Roof Extension Latest Addition To Glasgow Skyline

Planning permission has been secured for a two storey, 50,000 sq ft glass roof extension to Granite House, one of Glasgow's well known office buildings, located on the corner of Argyle and Stockwell Streets.

Developers Elandome have appointed Lambert Smith Hampton as letting agents to market this latest addition to the city skyline.

Adding the glass extension to the existing 210,000 sq ft at Granite House will create one of Glasgow’s largest office buildings. Rental levels are expected to be around £20 per sq ft.

Douglas Wheatley of Elandome is projecting a service charge of around £2 per sq ft and believes occupancy costs will be one third less than for a comparable office in the heart of the city’s Central Business District.

Confirming that Elandome is looking for a pre let, he said: "This is a very high quality, cost effective option with the added advantage of fantastic views across the city and excellent commuter links through nearby Argyle Street and Central railway stations."

Aasia Ali, Associate Director, Lambert Smith Hampton, added: "This is a spectacular addition to what is already established as a successful business location and we are confident there will be significant interest from a broad mix of potential tenants."

Architects for the glass extension are TPT Associates and construction is likely to take 12-18 months.

Around 9,000 sq ft is currently available for let at Granite House where existing occupiers include Glasgow Housing Association, House of Fraser, Fleet Alliance and Specsavers' Training Centre.
