Aberdeen-based company Sand Monitoring Services Ltd (SMS) has been awarded a multi-million pound contract from a leading global oilfield giant for the deployment of sand and solids monitoring services to Europe, Africa and Caspian area.
The two year contract with a one year extension involves a framework agreement whereby SMS will be the preferred provider for the oilfield giant’s sand and solids monitoring technology.
"We are delighted to have won this new contract over our Norwegian competitors," said Andrew Kinsler, Director and Field Services Manager of SMS Ltd. "We will be providing acoustic and intrusive sand monitoring services for our new client’s well testing division. It is a unique application of field and project engineering, which none of our competitors can match."
As part of the contract, SMS will undertake work in the Caspian Sea, liaising with the client's offices in Kazakhstan as well as in East & West Africa and the North Sea regional segments.
"This new business as well as our recent involvement with the North Sea’s first rig-based frac operations further acknowledges our expertise and competence in the field of sand & solids monitoring and well testing procedures," said Andrew.
"The framework is a tremendously exciting opportunity being one of only three such contracts in place with our client's testing division.
"As an approved service partner, we are proud to have been recognised internationally for our core skills and management systems to control and deliver consistently excellent services."
SMS, which is currently celebrating its fifth year of operation, has predicted doubling turnover growth compared to the previous year to hit £3m in 2009-2010. The company has also increased staff by 50% this year to meet growing demands.
