Crianlarich Bypass Takes A Step Forward

Construction News Image
Delivery of a vital improvement project on the A82 has taken another step closer with publication of statutory papers for the Crianlarich Bypass.

Publication of the Draft Road Orders and the Environmental statement mark the start of the consultation process for this vital upgrade of the A82.

The proposed improvement will see the construction of almost half a mile of single 2-lane carriageway from the south of Crianlarich to the north of the village.

The aim of this bypass is to significantly improve delays at the existing A85/A82 junction and reduce journey times along the A82 itself. It will also enhance safety by reducing the volume of traffic passing under the two railway bridges in the village.

The consultation period started on 24 September and will last for six weeks.

Angus Kennedy, Transport Scotland’s Project Manager said: "This is an important scheme for Crianlarich and we are pleased that we have now moved to the statutory process giving local people the chance to have their say. We are committed to delivering this important link route as we expect it to bring real safety and economic benefits to the area.

"This is another clear example of the government’s commitment to investing in Scotland’s hard pressed construction industry during this challenging economic climate."

Copies of the Orders together with the relevant plans may be inspected, free of charge, during normal business hours, from 24th September 2009 to 6th November 2009 at the offices of:
  • Transport Scotland, Buchanan House, Glasgow, G4 0HF
  • Stirling Council, Viewforth, Stirling
  • Crianlarich Post Office, Station Road, Crianlarich
  • Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Authority, Carrochan, Carrochan Road, Balloch
The consultation will close on 6 November 2009. The scheme is expected to be completed by 2011/2012 allowing for the possibility of a Public Local Enquiry.
