CORGI's Pilot Light Is Finally 'Switched Off'

Gas Safe Register has taken over from CORGI as the regulatory body for safety in the Gas sector.

Since the change of the regulatory body that monitors safety within the British gas industry that came into effect on the 1st of April earlier this year, the new Gas Safe Register of complying companies and individuals boasts enhanced safety measures that make the whole sector far safer than under the previous governing body of CORGI.

Following a review of the regulations in place under CORGI in 2006, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found that the registration scheme needed modernising and improving.

Building on the many successes of the CORGI scheme, the new and much improved Gas Safe Register has been in place for six months and has brought a clearer focus on gas safety together with simplified registration and competence requirements for gas engineers without compromising safety or service standards.

Trade Qualified Ltd is a strong supporter of all changes that introduce innovation and improved safety standards to the industry and together with their trading partners they offer combined industry experience in excess of 20 years of delivering Gas Safe and Plumbing training as well as Electrician and Electrical training to existing tradesmen as well as career changers.

The registration rules for the Gas Safe Register are superior to those previously provided by CORGI but whilst the new scheme has been based upon CORGI's proven successes, it has also introduced innovative safety measures that were formerly lacking. The improved promotion of gas safety by Gas Safe Register is a welcome step forward to ensuring the wellbeing of those working with gas and for those who use it in their homes and businesses.

Professionals who gained their qualifications under CORGI will not need to re-sit exams or re-train but they will have to update their qualifications as normal to comply with the requirements of the new Gas Safe Register.

Trade Qualified and their partners provide plumbing courses and plumbing training and electrical training and electrician courses that train participants to become trade professionals.

They offer Gas Safe courses to graduates of their plumbing courses that on completion enable engineers to safely install and service gas appliances and work with gas. Once the courses have been successfully completed engineers are able to apply for inclusion on the Gas Safe Register. For more information visit www.tradequalified.co.uk
