A public pre-determination hearing is to be held to discuss a planning application for the erection of a waste to energy combined heat and power plant in Peterhead.
Following substantial interest in the plant, which would be built at Upperton Industrial Estate, councillors agreed to host a hearing at a recent area committee.
The hearing will take place at the Palace Hotel, Prince Street, Peterhead on Monday November 9 from 6.30pm and will give local people and other interested parties the chance to discuss issues regarding the proposal.
Verbal representations from people who submitted formal letters of representation will also be heard at the hearing.
The Buchan Area Committee will receive a further report, along with a note of the pre-determination hearing, at a special meeting on Tuesday, December 8 at Arbuthnot House and councillors will be asked to give their preliminary views on the proposal.
The next stage would be a subsequent report on all of the findings submitted to a full council meeting to be determined by all Aberdeenshire councillors early next year.
A copy of the report detailing the main issues relating to the planning application will be available on the council's website from Tuesday, November 3 and a paper copy will be available for viewing in Arbuthnot House, Broad Street, Peterhead, or Peterhead Library, St Peter Street, Peterhead.
Copies can also be obtained from the Area Manager’s Office in Peterhead by calling 01779 483202 or by emailing theresa.wood@aberdeenshire.gov.uk
