Design student Rebecca Groves was in the right place at the right time to win a prestige placement with top British design agency Keane Brands.
Rebecca won the Satelliet-Browns Student Design Challenge and saw her futuristic design for the Matrix Bar take shape at the Bar 09 Exhibition in Earls Court.
Harvey Ockrim MD of Satelliet-Browns, leading supplier of furniture to the bar and restaurant trade said: "It’s great to see one of our Design Challenge winners do so well and we wish Rebecca every success at Keanes.
"Her winning entry was one of the most original we’ve seen in the eight year history of the Satelliet-Browns Student Design Challenge, and I am absolutely certain she will go on to greater things."
Keane Brands CEO and Founder Aidan Keane was a guest speaker at the show when the exhibition of Rebecca's work caught his eye.
Aidan said: "I was impressed with Rebecca's designs. We started chatting and that led to her joining us on her placement year.
"It shows there are genuine opportunities for the Design Challenge winners.
"Rebecca is working on a diverse range of projects from a rustic bakery and tearoom to helping our senior designers with a four restaurant project in Malaysia."
Rebecca who has just completed her second year studying interior design at the University of Glamorgan said: "Thanks to the Design Challenge I now have the fantastic opportunity of working with Keane and look forward to an intense, but invaluable year."
