Stirling Council has launched its consultation on the development of its Local Housing Strategy (LHS) for the next five years (2010 to 2015).
Under the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001, every local authority is required to prepare a Local Housing Strategy. The most recent LHS for the Stirling area was for the period 2004 to 2009.
To assist the consultation the Council has released a Housing Issues Report, which provides a wealth of background information about housing in the Stirling Council area. The report is available to downloaded from the Council Website at: www.stirling.gov.uk
The Housing Issues Report has been written in order to provide facts & figures and to raise awareness of housing issues in the Stirling Council area," said Stirling Council Portfolio Holder with responsibility for Housing Strategy Councillor Alasdair MacPherson. "The report will be used as a basis for discussion and consultation during April, May and June 2010 with partner agencies, voluntary organisations, community groups and individuals. Issues raised during the consultation period will contribute to the Local Housing Strategy itself, which will be submitted to the Scottish Government in the autumn of 2010."
The Housing Issues Report provides information and raises issues about housing need & demand, house condition, the development of sustainable, mixed communities, homelessness and particular housing needs. The Issues Report and useful background papers can be accessed on the Council’s website pages on Local Housing.
Individuals and groups are invited to comment on the full report or on the sections in which they have a particular interest. All comments received by June 30, 2010 will be considered as part of the development of the Local Housing Strategy itself.
